| Islams syn på forhold mellom kjønn er et omdiskutert emne i dagens samfunn. Nå har du mulighet til å høre om hva Islamske kilder sier om emnet og hvordan muslimske menn og kvinner bør interagere med hverandre. Innledning om seminaret: Allah says: ‘And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect,’ (Rum 30:21).The first part of the talk will address the meaning of ‘pairs’ or ‘mates’; tranquillity, love and mercy as implied in the verse. There will be a brief discussion of promiscuity, which according to the words of Quran is where one seeks beyond the ‘mate’ ‘tranquility’ love and mercy. He says: ‘but whosoever seeks more than that are the transgressors,’ (al-Muminun 23:5-6). The way that one achieves tranquillity, love and mercy and avoids its opposites has been described in a hadith known as the hadith of Umm Zara where eleven women talk about their partners and their lives. The commentators have written extensively on this and the seminar will attempt to draw on this statements and relate them to contemporary situations.
